Nestled in the hills that become the Great Dividing Range, Woodend (60km north west of Melbourne) is a vital rural community. Many professionals, writers and artists choose the quieter life here.

In the middle of town, next to the clock tower is the Woodend Bookshop, an icon of the town for nearly two decades.

The astute eyes of the previous owners have created a high quality selection of over 16,000 books. Many are out of print, some are old and some are as new. Most areas of human endeavour are covered with strong representation in fiction, Australian society, history, children's books, true crime & crime fiction, religion & spirituality, military and lots more! If it isn't on our shelves, we can source books internationally for you.

Browsing is welcomed by owners Ed and Christine. The shop includes a dedicated children's section with a sofa. Reading with your children is encouraged and you can always look for a bargain on our $1 table with over 300 books that are changed regularly.

We keep the shop’s reputation for quality secondhand books at very low prices and polite friendly service. Hope to meet you soon.

In a bow tie or an Indian shirt, Ed Irons is the friendly man behind the counter. Ask him about that elusive volume or simply seek directions to your area of interest. Ed knows a little bit about many topics and a good deal about literature and art. His working life has been in the tertiary education sector, but now he is happy to keep people reading the great selection of books in the shop.
